On The Ropes
On the Ropes was my first video project and boy what a lesson. I wanted
to do a video project and the Kino Louisville event was coming up so
I decieded to
go for it. Kino is a fourty-eight hour film fest where all the teams
meet up on Friday
night, and a secret ingredent is given. You then have until Sunday
evening to shot,
edit and screen you short with said ingredeant.
With the help of my good
friend Xal Glover, we set out
with what ending up be a nearly perfect format for creating fourty-eight
hour cinema.
The idea was that "the Man" was in the hospital in critical condtion
and we went
out to see how folks felt about it. Were they happy, scared, were they
taking
steps to protect there families? Of course we where taking some jabs
at main-
stream media, by including question like, "do you think this is a terriorist
action."
I was really happy with what we came up with and I still watch and enjoy
this
short on occasion.
You can check it out on www.ifc.com, or you can order Keep
it Reel with
extras which includes this short plus a couple others. Watch out for
the harsh language!
